There are two guys in the world named Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey. You may or may not know these men. They could be your neighbors, or they can be random strangers living thousands of miles away from you. They aren’t the types of people who have receded into their own lives without paying attention to the outside world.
They are quite the contrary. On the other hand, they are not superheroes like Clark Kent. They are a happy middle—just two guys who decided to serve their community by starting the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund.
NAMBLA holds a very controversial stance, which is quite evident in their name, which stands for “North American Man Boy Love Association.” In our current society, most people who hear about this organization would immediately be repulsed by it.
People should be repulsed. However, even though the motives of the members are shady, it is still very insightful to think about the arguments that they give to justify man-boy love. For example, they say that the law solely judges people based on chronological age, and doesn’t acknowledge personal development.
One person can be more developed and have different needs and levels of wisdom than others. NAMBLA says that the age of consent laws needlessly result in adults getting into trouble for valid relationships with younger people.
These arguments have some weight to them, especially when you are talking about a legal adult having a relationship with a teenager who is not considered to be the age of consent. Teenagers tend to be physically and sexually developed, have sex drives and know what they are getting into when it comes to relationships.
It is arguable that in many cases, it should not be considered wrong for someone over the age of consent to date a legal minor who is under the age of consent if that legal minor is already a teenager who is pretty close to the age of consent.
For example, if a person is a physically and emotionally developed 15 or 16 year old, it should not be wrong for that person to date a 21 year old. In such a situation, the 21 year old would be dating a 15 or 16 year old, not a 2 year old.
A 15 or 16 year old human being is on a completely different level of development than a 2 year old, and should not be seen as one in the eyes of the law. If a 21 year old was dating a 2 year old, that would be pretty disturbing and scandalous. However, a 2 year old is on an entirely different level of development than a 15 or 16 year old.
The show South Park made fun of NAMBLA. In this episode Cartman tried to be “mature” by hanging out with older guys. Unfortunately, these guys ended up being members of NAMBLA, and wanted to have sex with him and all of his friends. Cartmen and his friends did not want that.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are back for Round 2 with Joe Arpaio
The Phoenix New Times, which used to be owned by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, spent a lot of time covering the Sheriff of Maricopa County, Joe Arpaio.
Arpaio is no longer the Sheriff, but he is running for United States Congress now. With support from Donald Trump, the likelihood that Arpaio will be able to earn a seat in Congress is extremely high. Arpaio was one of the first members of the GOP to support Donald Trump, and in return, Arpaio received a pardon from Trump when he was convicted of contempt of court.
Arizona citizens cheered at a Trump rally when Trump teased the Joe Arpaio pardon. Despite years of mistreatment, some Arizona residents are still sticking by Joe Arpaio.
During Joe Arpaio’s tenure as Sheriff, individuals were illegally arrested and beaten. Reports of torture have came out of Arpaio’s infamous Tent City facility. Joe Arpaio even attempted to silence the press when they refused to stop investigating his actions: he arrested Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin.
The journalists didn’t take this first amendment rights violation laying down. They sued Maricopa County and eventually walked away $3.75 million richer.
They could have used this money to add to their retirement funds, buy houses, or buy luxury cars, but they didn’t. Instead, they chose to use the money to create a new charity. In 2013, The Frontera Fund was born. This organization works with a wide variety of other Arizona charities in order to bring a higher quality of life to Hispanic residents. Hispanics were the victims of Joe Arpaio’s unlawful activities, so Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey are providing them with an altruistic effort.
A few years after The Frontera Fund was created, Front Page Confidential was born. The creation of this organization marked Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin’s return to journalism. After a 4 year break from journalism, they returned to journalism to continue their pursuit of Joe Arpaio. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are trying to stop Joe Arpaio from earning a seat in Congress by exposing him to the public.
