The mentorship program helped the promising companies by giving them rent-free work space in Switzerland’s largest city, three months assistance, and hands on learning about how to market their products worldwide.

Mike Baur also sits on the board of a pitch contest named START Summiteer, which not only helped the contestants of the contest but also helped launch Baur’s company as one with notiable reputation. The contest is focused on companies with less than one million dollars assets and only thirty companies make it to the pitch sessions.

James Dondero Announces Big Donation To Aid The Family Place

James Dondero, both president and co-founder of Highland Capital Management in Dallas, Texas, announced his firm would be donating $1 million challenge grant towards The Family Place, a local organization that supports victims of violence within families.

Dondero has over thirty years of experience in the financial field. After graduating from the University of Virginia he went on to work at numerous prestigious places including Morgan Guaranty, American Express, and Protective Life.

Along with his extensive work history, Dondero is also the Chairman of Cornerstone Healthcare, CCS Medical, and Nexbank. He is also a member of the board for both MGM Studios and American Banknote.

Now, Dondero is using his company’s philanthropic branch, Highland Dallas Foundation, Inc.,, to match 50 percent of all funds raised by The Family Place up to the total sum of $1 million. The project began in the beginning of October and will run through April 4, 2017.

So far, The Family Place has already raised $200,000 towards the project which will be matched with an additional $100,000 from Highland’s grant. The goal is to raise the final $2.8 million needed for The Family Place’s Legacy Campaign. Dondero is hoping that his help will answer the Dallas Mayor’s call for help from the community in solving this important issue in the city.

Once the funds are raised they will go towards construction and operations of a new center, Central Dallas Counseling Center, where victims of family violence can receive help and guidance. It will be named in honor of Ann Moody and will include a medical and dental clinic, a hotline center, rooms for both group and private counseling for children and adults, spaces for job training, and 13 emergency rooms to provide immediate shelter to victims. It is expected that the building will serve over 2,000 victims per year and will provide the extra space that is critically needed as the current shelter operates at maximum capacity at all times.
