StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon is a wonderful add-on for your Internet Browser. Through it you can discover sites on the Internet you never would have found on your own.

While it can be used in a minimal way without it, your adventure with StumbleUpon begins with the download of the toolbar. Installation is very simple, and once installed the toolbar has several buttons on it. Most important is the Stumble button and the 'I like it', 'I don't like it' buttons. Use of these last two lets SU narrow in on your interests and the Stumble bar starts taking you more destinations of your liking.

You can also set up a profile in which you tell SU what categories are of interest to you. This speeds up the fine tuning process.

For a good year this was all I used StumbleUpon for. But it is also a online social community, in which you can post your likes and thoughts and websites you've discovered to your blog. You can assign friends and fans, which again shifts what websites the Stumble button takes you too.

It is through the Stumble community that, for instance, I met Diane and Mr. Kim which lead to me discovering that acupuncture was great for relieving my muscle spasms. I've always avoided other social networks, chat rooms and the like. But the SU community works for me.

StumbleUpon describes itself this way.

What people are saying about it

"Next time you want to wander the Web, forget about Googling it. Stumble it."

"StumbleUpon is a brilliant downloadable toolbar that beds into your browser and gives you the chance to surf through thousands of excellent pages that have been stumbled upon by other web-users"

I mention all this in it's own section on my blog, because over time I have built up a fairly large collection of findings and musings on my own StumbleUpon blog. I do not how long it will continue to exist after I have passed away, but it is another view at another side of my personality.

Even without joining the StumbleUpon community and downloading the toolbar you can visit and read my writings there. Below are links that organize this in several ways.
