Donation's for my final bash

This page is for archival reference only. The donation buttons have been deactivated.

This site will live on after I am gone, so if you encounter it after May 3rd, 2009, please do not send a donation, it will just end up being absorbed by PayPal someday.

This is not my regular donation page although the donations are mirrored here and vice versa. That page contains a warning turning strangers away.

But this page is pandering to strangers. The reason for this change of heart is due to my altereding my whole outlook about the end of my life as well as toward my contributions to society.

Previously I was hell bent on maintaining a certain quality of living during my final days. Since then I have come to realize what is important, and that is time with Mai, my darling wife.

So taking into account what had been donated, what I had in the bank and my deciding on my birthday as the theoretical ending date, I trimmed down my residence and my spending to fit into that budget. Figuring for only three months it was not that difficult. It is not lavish but we are not lavish people.

I almost shutdown the basis for this page when I got three emails on that particular day, stating how I was an inspiration to them, helped them through the death of a loved one or helped them with their own plight.

So my thinking became maybe there were more people that wanted to help to whom I have provided something of value and so I could justify - to myself - asking for contribution. I feel better about asking strangers than asking friends and family because strangers can more easily say no if they don't feel they have anything to spare (which let's face it, is most people these days.) Family and friends are more on the spot and are given the choice of giving when they can't afford to, or feeling horrible because they can't help.

So I set up this page which is unconnected by any link from my main site. While I talk of $200 for a brick below most of that explanation below is from old donations page and no longer really applies. Even $10 goes a long way here in Thailand and would be greatly appreciated.

Anything that comes in from here will go toward a week long party (assuming I am still relatively coherent) after my birthday. Whether it be grilled cheese sandwiches and TV here at the apartment or Champagne, Steak and Hookers at the Marriott, it is all up to you.

My tone here will be light. For those that know the whole situation it will seem almost irreverent. For those that don't know my situation I have a lot of information to squeeze into a non-overwhelming space, so click on any of the questions below for an answer. If you have any questions not answered here contact me via the menu above.

  •   Why do you need money? - Part One
  •   Why do you need money? - Part Two
  •   What do I get for my donation?
  •   Okay, how do I send you some?
  •   What if don't have a credit card or don't trust computers?

My last MRI showed I am deteriorating cerebrally much slower than anyone had expected. This might be due to:

  • Lingering effects of the protocol drug

  • Better diet due to foods closer to nature

  • An unexpected side effect of the Nano-Lithium

  • I'm even open to it being the prayers of my family and friends

  • Or the blessings of the Monks

  • Reduced exposure to EMF radiation

  • The healing effects of new love

Regardless of whatever reason, I have passed my original due date of Nov 17th, and barring sudden stroke or embolism it looks like Jan 31st, will also be exceeded. Unfortunately this is the date I figured my spending around.

I think it unfair that those that helped me so much prior to this do not get credit on this tribute. There are a lot of people that contributed an awful lot of time, energy, love and money without which I could not have made my journey and would not be here in Thailand today. I would like to give special thanks to Shaun and Marilyn Hopkins, Dan Gilligan, Mary K Anderson and Joe Bob Williams, Lloyd, and my loving mom and sister.
